The Inspiration Behind Ruby

She was born in Mayfield, Kentucky — and from the very beginning, she was something rare.

My great-aunt Ruby was the kind of woman people noticed before she said a word. Stunning, sharp, and wise beyond her years, she carried herself with a quiet elegance that felt both effortless and intentional. She sang in the church choir alongside her younger sister — my grandmother — and whether she was in the pew or walking through the door, she lit up every room she entered. Her smile was its own kind of warmth. Her style was always right. And she had a way of making everyone around her feel seen — especially the children, for whom she always kept a treat, at church and in the neighborhood, because that's just who she was.

She loved her family the way great women do: steadily, generously, and without condition.

That is exactly the kind of presence a brand should have.

My mom inspired me to evolve my former agency, 3am Strategies, and rename it in her honor — because Ruby the woman and Ruby the consultancy are built from the same core. She didn't walk into a room trying to impress anyone. She simply knew who she was, and that clarity made her unforgettable. That's what we help brands do: stop performing and start being — distinct, grounded, and impossible to ignore for all the right reasons.

She was direct without being cold. Warm without being vague. Fashionable without chasing trends. She had a point of view, and she wore it well. Ruby the consultancy operates the same way — bringing sharp strategic clarity and genuine cultural fluency to every engagement, never loud for the sake of noise, always precise in how and where we show up.

And like her, we believe the people around us should leave better than they came. Whether that's a brand with a clearer story, a team with sharper instincts, or a young marketer with their first real portfolio — we show up with something valuable, every time.

That family legacy shapes the spirit of this consultancy: built on clarity, heart, and precision, and grounded in the belief that the most resonant brands are both distinctive and deeply human. Like the stone itself — valuable not just for what it is, but for how it's cut and how it catches the light.

That's the work. Uncovering what makes your brand distinct — and shaping it into a story that resonates in the boardroom, the marketplace, and culture.

Who We Are

Ruby builds the commercial infrastructure for brands that have earned cultural credibility — and haven't yet built the revenue architecture to match it.

We treat every brand like a high-value stone: clarify the true color, cut the narrative with precision, and set it so it catches the right light — in culture and on the balance sheet. Ruby doesn't run tactics. Ruby builds the brand story, the sponsorship model, the audience architecture, and the revenue roadmap that makes culturally credible organizations finally generate what they're worth.

Founded by Angela J. Sikes — a 20+ year Fortune 500 brand strategist, architect of a $1.3B global sportswear marketing program, and faculty at Georgetown University — Ruby brings C-suite caliber thinking to organizations facing high-stakes moments that demand more than a deck.

With experience spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia, Ruby partners with leaders in Sports & Entertainment, Youth Culture, Cultural Institutions & Nonprofits, Retail & Fashion, and Lifestyle — spaces where audiences know the difference and only the sharpest brands break through.

Ruby is also an incubator for emerging marketing talent — creating real-world opportunities for the next generation of strategists, creatives, and cultural thinkers to build their craft alongside experienced leadership. That commitment reflects what Ruby stands for: sharp thinking, meaningful work, and building brands — and people — with intention.
